Chong Han Liang

Han is currently Matahio Energy’s Head of Strategy and Sustainability which is a progressive and independent energy company establishing a presence across Southeast Asia and Australasia.

Han brings two decades of experience advising global energy companies across the complete value chain, covering the upstream, downstream, petrochemical, and renewable sectors. During his career in strategy consulting, Han advises clients on growth strategy, business transformation (including digital and sustainability), cost optimisation, M&A, operating model redesign and human capital development.

Han is a recognized business leader, leading high-performing teams and working alongside senior executives of national oil companies, supermajors, independents and host governments, predominantly in the Southeast Asia and Asia Pacific markets.

Han now spearheads the formulation of Matahio’s corporate strategy from shaping the Group’s long-term goals to defining nearer-term growth and diversification pathways to driving its ESG and low carbon agendas.

Before joining Matahio, Han was a managing director Accenture Strategy’s energy practice, leading business development pursuits whilst having a track record for delivering tangible value through the transformation projects he worked on. Prior to his time at Accenture, Han held leaderships roles at Schlumberger Business Consulting and Deloitte Consulting.

Han went to Penang Free School and holds a Master Engineering from Cornell University besides a Bachelor’s from Arizona State University, both in electrical engineering.
